Kojima’s Resilience Shines Through

Hideo Kojima recently announced on his radio show that after the development of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is complete,
Kojima Productions will enter a new phase. Japanese Twitter user Genki_JPN translated these statements.
In Phase 2, Kojima envisions a future filled with potential. He plans to produce an anime series and continue working on the OD and Physint projects. He also hinted at the possibility of venturing into new territories, such as making a new game or entering the film industry.
Kojima explained the studio’s first phase as creating new IPs that could be further developed and released on various platforms. He also emphasized that since Kojima Productions is still an independent studio, he must look for new collaborations for future projects.

Physint, first announced in February 2024, is Kojima’s new stealth game, described as a “next-gen action spy game.” Kojima said that full development on the game will begin after the release of Death Stranding 2. The popular director also said that in two years,
he will celebrate his 40th anniversary in the video game industry, a significant milestone, and hopes that Physint will be the pinnacle of his career.
Meanwhile, Kojima has been working on OD for Microsoft, a horror game announced exclusively for Xbox in December 2023 and revealed with a trailer at The Game Awards. OD, which stands for ‘Outer Darkness’, is a game that explores the concept of fear in a unique way. Not much is known about OD,
but we know that the game will be developed using Unreal Engine 5 and utilize Microsoft’s cloud technology. As for Physint, it is a next-gen action spy game that promises to redefine the stealth genre.
