Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.2 Now Requires Almost Twice as Much Storage Space as Before.
Apple has added a wave of new features to iPhones, iPads, and compatible Macs with its proprietary AI called Apple Intelligence.
and now we know how much storage these features take up on those devices.
According to Apple’s official announcement, Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18.2 take up about 7GB of storage on an iPhone. The same goes for compatible iPads and Macs; implementing these features on each device requires about 21GB of storage.
The first batch of Apple Intelligence features, added to iPhones with iOS 18.1, took up just 4GB of storage. However, iOS 18.2’s AI-powered features require almost twice as much storage.
The increased storage footprint is a testament to the exciting new AI features that Apple has added.
such as Genmoji and ChatGPT in Siri, Image Playground, and Visual Intelligence. These features promise to enhance your Apple experience, making the increased storage space a worthwhile investment.

The inevitable increase in storage space due to the new AI features is something Apple users can prepare for. The inherence features will likely take care of the storage space on iPhones as they arrive, with the total expected to be around 10GB before iOS 19 is released.
It’s important to note that the various Apple Intelligence features are processed locally on devices and cannot be enabled on one device and used across the Apple ecosystem. Equally, there is no way to turn off features to save storage. This is a limitation that users should be aware of.
